Sorry didn't want to bring any more news on LI because it has already been in the news lately (even though moat of the threads are fake).
But this is a confirmed news from my immediate senior batch that the VC of GNLU has shown the highest levels of favouritism and nepotism, as he has literally alloted a full Prof Cabin to a student Convenor of a Comm. Even though the teacher has 2 cabins, even then giving a Profs cabin to a student is just unbelievable. There has been a big disquiet and prob plans of protests are underway, unless the decision is overturned at the earliest. ▮▮▮
All the teachers should in fact vacate their rooms to the students anyway. They are of no use to the university. Students bring money and fame to the place through their hard work.
It's very unfortunate that internal rivalries and motivated agendas are being used to post misleading topics on LI. The convener in question is a very hard-working and sincere person who is working for free. You need support to do that job, including infrastructure. The cabin will be used as a workplace, not a nightclub! I would also like to know if you would be willing to put in even 1/10th of the hard work for free?
If that cabin is withdrawn tomorrow there will be five new threads about how teachers don't deserve cabins and conveners don't get admin support. LI mods should consider some version of a community notes or a weighted voting feature where any post with enough "trollish" votes is moved down and out from the front page.
But every student body of major committees such as CRA, LSC, GLIC, MCC have offices in order to conduct businesses. It's not unusual for a committee to get an office, of atleast the stature as Alumni Relations Department
Dude this cabin has been taken just a proxy so that the Convenor can sit and sleep in the AC all night long. He doesn't care a bit about working there. Also this cabin was already been used by the SRDC Research Wing of the Uni. The infamous Alumni Convenor just one fine day came to the office and took it for himself.
SDRC karta bhi hai kya research? What research has the body done? How many reports/research publications does GNLU SRDC have to its name? I was a part of SRDC and it's not active at all. Whereas DAR did organise some 2 events every semester. No wonder why the room was taken away from SRDC and given to DAR
