The NUJS Registrar has issued an order directing all guards to stop ▮▮▮ boys and girls together in the campus in the name of "discipline".

The guards are serial ▮▮▮ and daily tell boys and girls to go to their hostels and study instead of walking on campus.
This is fake news. No such direction has been issued. What has been is a basic precaution that after curfew hours past midnight, if the guards get to see any student in any part of the academic building that is off limits by then anyway, then they have the right to question them. This has been done to ensure random couples don't hook up or smoke up inside the academic building and leave the place dirty as has been done in the past. Don't try to pass off measures to prevent your irresponsible behaviour as examples of curbing freedom.
I agree with OP. The comment trying to contradict OP is doing pro-admin propaganda. This is nothing but fascism and moral policing. It’s my right if I want to make out with someone on campus in a secluded corner, especially as the campus is so small and overcrowded.
I am torn between the two arguments because both of them make sense. First, the real news is admin is trying to stop couples from hooking up in the acad building after 8pm. There are no restrictions to hook up outside the acad building (other places inside the campus). In support of the admin they want to keep acad building prim and not be left to deal with the detritus left behind (also duty of care as work is going on). IN support of the students, acad building has the largest footprint, so there is little space (and privacy) left in the campus.
Privacy in a residential campus can only be reasonably expected inside your own room and washroom cubicle. You want to make out, go out and get a room.
Actually no, that's not your right. That's what Oyo rooms are for.
This comment is by some pro-admin person most probably in the SJA. Several people have caught guards staring at girls. Some of the guards are sexual harassers and frustrated people and have been making weird, objectionable comments on couples. In the name of the registrar, they are directing all boys and girls to stop walking or even talking on campus. They are closing almost all public spaces, and now if they stop boys and girls from even walking (not makeout; simply walking), it is extremely ridiculous and not expected from NUJS admin.
@Mod: Not only is this fake news, but it makes some very objectionable comments about the hardworking guards who have always been of help to the student community, all the more so because they are unable to defend themselves here. This should have been redacted. There is no guard at NUJS who has ever been even accused of SH, let alone convicted. Nor has any public space within the university been closed or students stopped from walking or anything like that. If you are not in a position to verify such lies, then don't publish them.
Yes, that's exactly what you would do. When not allowed to make out inside classroom, blame the poor guards with false allegations so that they get scared and leave you alone to do whatever you want. Pathetic!
Come on, this is too much. The guards have never been a problem, they're always helpful and sweet. I say this as a female student.
What the hell, school se chota to inka campus hai, nearby OYO stonks are always high
This is absolutely true. There have been multiple occassions where the guards have stopped couples from even walking in campus. Not even makeout. Even when couples are talking or walking, the guards have come and simply switched off fans and directed boys and girls to go their respective hostel rooms. When asked why can't boys and girls even walk or talk in campus, the guards have said that the Registrar has directed them to do so.

This is simply fascism. The guards literally stare at girls and couples, and over the last 2 weeks, they have been doing such weird things.
Switched off fans means you are talking about classrooms. Why on earth are you inside a classroom late after dark when you are clearly not meant to be there? The academic block is not a place to make out. One wonders that you have to be taught about that at this stage. Clearly your school and family education have been lacking. There have been multiple instances of students having been found in compromising positions inside empty classrooms when visitors or faculty have gone in. By all means, make out or have sex whatever you want to do as consenting adults. Do it outside the academic block. If you find that impossible, then get rooms or stay outside the campus. This is just basic norms, not fascism. Of course people will stare at you if you start groping and necking publicly. At least pretend to be decent, responsible and educated individuals even if you are not really so, as long as you are sharing public space.
Good step. Academic Block shoud be temple of knowledge. Jadavpur University incident has exposed the misdeeds of students.

University should be place to study. Next should be accessing academic block only in proper attire.

If the students go to law firm offices in proper attire after graduation, they should also go to proper attire in faculty offices and classrooms. Academic block is not a drawing room that students can enter directly from their bed.
Don't have to treat it like a temple, just don't treat it like an Oyo room or saste ka hotel for god's sake!
nujs will never put any restrictions on attire, it is in the civilisational and foundational values of NUJS to let the students wear whatever they want to.
