Summary: India was already 8th largest economy under Nehru, in 1960. So being 5th largest economy is no big deal. Real issues are India's rankings in:
- Hunger: 107/121
- Gender gap: 127/146
- Economic freedom: 131/176
- Corruption: 86/107
- Intellectual property: 42/55
Unless we improve our rankings in these indices we will never be a superpower. Look at economic freedom: our system is just designed to benefit a few crony capitalists like the Ambanis, Adanis and even the Shroffs. Look at corruption: Not a thing moves here without brining politicians. Look at intellectual property: we don't create original technology and other stuff, we just copy and clone.
