Breaking: The Bar Council of India (BCI) has postponed the All India Bar Exam (AIBE) scheduled for 25 November 2012, to 9 December because of a religious event and candidates’ requests.

The BCI posted a notice by its secretary on its website today stating:

It is to notify that, due to unavoidable reason, Muharram and several requests received from candidates, the date of All India Bar Examination is extended to 9th December, 2012. The Exam would now be held on 9th December, 2012. The model question paper would be available on the site of Bar Council of India from 10th November, 2012 onwards.

The BCI had in early September announced that the AIBE would be held on 25 November, having decided to carry it out with minimal external help.

Has anyone else had issues with the online submission process?

The web application portal seems to have gone wonky, too. Previously, it showed that my application was submitted. Now there's a revised long-form application on the sign on, whereas the original app was a screen-by-screen affair. Impossible to tell if this means nothing, something, or everything.

And, Kian, try calling the "AIBE Helpline" and see if you can ever get anyone to answer the phone. Ever. Forget about sending the helpline an email, too.

To,
Advocate Chill

This happened with me too.

After submitting the form online, the message "You have already submitted the application form" displayed.

But today when I clicked on 'Application Form' tab after logging in to AIBE Website, to check whether there is any information about Roll Numbers for AIBE, I surprised to see now a 'single page' AIBE Online Application Form was being displayed!

God knows what happed to the online application form I submitted!

What absolute and utter crap. This is the second tome this is happening. Nobody is asking the BCI to come out with early dates when they know that they can't hold it on time. Take your time, but stop postponing! People have plans! If the BCI is up to this, how can one expect that students don't give lame excuses to get extensions on paper/project deadlines. Heights of unprofessionalism and irresponsibility. And will anyone take notice? Nope.

Is Bar Council of India playing with the careers of law student or is Certificate of Practice a joke...??What is BCI thinking..huh...we are filing a PIL in this regard against incompetance for helding such examination without no meaning as it cannot raise the professional standards of a law student who opt to practice....so we urge all of you guys to file PIL in your region...don't think you are alone guys...

i am a practising advocate at Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh. for my friend's sister admit card i have also been searching in the bar council website from the morning itself. but in vain. for any legal assistance i will help you by giving suggestions for filing PIL. the bar council is playing with the future of young advocates. it is not easy to search the web site of bar council for our requirement. if the bar council is unable to conduct the examinations and sending study material to the candidates why it has been collecting thousands of rupees from the young unemployed youth whose dream is to become a member in the noble profession. the Bar Council is spoiling the dignity of the noble profession.

Same problem faced by me. There seems to be some issue with the website. Also, I emailed the BCI and phoned their helpline today but apparently nobody replied. This BAR EXAM seems like a money minting machine for some members of BCI. Its a big HOAX. I'm gonna file RTI against em' sooner or later.

I had already made travel plans for the first two weeks of December, including airline tickets, hotels etc. Now, with the exam postponed, what will happen to all that? I am not sure what to say at this point. I am potentially going to lose thousands of rupees because BCI hasn't thought through their exam dates properly the first time around. Should I just cry or not take the exam, or both? Please can someone just get this exam canceled altogether and give us all practice certificates. please!

Would anyone have any idea whether the syllabus or the examination pattern is being changed for this current examination? ( December 9th, 2012) I had managed to send in my application last month itself, but till date i've received NO information as to whether my application has been accepted, rejected. No preparatory materials have arrived either. Whats going on?

The Bar Council of India has postponed the Bar Exam to 9th December,12. Has the last date for submission of application has also been extended from 25th October, 12? In case the council further postpones the exam date, the date of availability of application forms and submission of the same must also be extended so that the applicants who could not submit their applications upto 25 th October,12 may avail the opportunity.
The undertaking for provisional practice mentions the month of exam October/November whereas the exam is not being conducted in these months. The Bar Council of India is supposed to know the Law better than any other person and the undertaking is incorrect to the extent that the exam is not being condcted in the month of Oct/Nov 12, and allowing an aadvocate to practise on the basis of incorrect undertaking in not valid in the eyes of law. The undertaking should be amended accordingly, preferably the undetaking should not include the date on which the bar exam is to be conducted and once given it should be valid till the advocate clears the bar exam.

It's a pity the Bar Council has organized this exam so poorly. The people on the other side of the information helpline of the Bar Council have been given outdated information to answer queries and are not aware of basic things such as, the link for the prep material and when the admit cards / hall tickets will be available. All they were able to say for the last 3 days was, please check again tomorrow for an answer.

yes it is true BCI is not organizing AIBE professionally, even helpline No's provided by the BCI never respond, and most interested is 9 days left for examinations large no of students still waiting for study material. Its also over to my mind by the BCI organising such examination. why the logic given by the BCI apply to all Advocates.
