AZB & Partners has hired the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s (ACCC) former assistant director Fadi Metanios as a senior consultant in its Delhi competition team.
Australian national Metanios, who was with the ACCC since June 2004 until September 2012 graduated as a lawyer in 2000 from the University of Western Sydney and obtained his LLM in 2005 from the University of New South Wales. He also has a post graduate diploma in Economics for Competition Law from King’s College London.
After the ACCC Metanios also worked at Australian boutique law firm Addisons.
AZB Delhi partner and competition practice head Samir Gandhi said in an email: “With the Indian Competition Commission increasingly looking towards global precedent in its enforcement decisions, and with international M&A transactions being notified simultaneously across several jurisdictions, Fadi will help bring a valuable international perspective to the advice we provide our clients.”
Amarchand Mangaldas had hired the head of Irish firm William Fry’s competition law department, John Handoll, as a senior adviser in European and competition law two years ago. The same year, Khaitan & Co had poached person of Indian origin (PIO) Paku Khan, another Irish competition lawyer, who was originally hired into India by Amarchand.
