The Supreme Court has participated in Narendra Modi’s open challenge to clean India, by sweeping its own back yard, according to an announcement on the Supreme Court website, which stated:

Under the direction and guidance of Hon'ble the Chief Justice of India Shri H. L. Dattu, the Supreme Court associated itself with the “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” with an aim to contribute towards clean and healthy environment.

The campaign was started on Gandhi Jayanti i.e October 2, 2014 in the Supreme Court Complex. During the past two days, employees of the Supreme Court led by Secretary General Shri Ravindra Maithani and Registrars of the Supreme Court joined hands to clean the premises of the Supreme Court as well as adjoining areas.

The staff members of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Delhi Police personnel, posted in the Supreme Court also participated in the cleanliness drive.

The announcement did not specify whether any judges got their hands dirty in yesterday’s initiative.
