Dozens, some claim hundreds, of students who took the 2014 Common Law Admissions Test (CLAT) are claiming that there has been a serious error in the marking of their results, demanding to see their optical mark recognition (OMR) answer sheets.

One CLAT taker wrote:

"I received my CLAT 2014 result tonight. I made 166/200 attempts, and I rechecked my answers with the answer key provided. Yet somehow, I seem to have scored a shocking 15.25/200 in my exam. I find this to be an absolute impossibility unless A. my OMR sheet has been checked wrong, or IB. have mis-marked my entire OMR sheet.

"I attempted CLAT 2013 with a rank of [around 1600] and score [of around 110]. It is therefore impossible that I have scored [around 15] marks ONLY. I have already sent a mail to , and I have received no reply yet.

"It is possible that they have incorrectly marked my omr sheet, as complaints have been reported by a lot of candidates. To clear the confusion in our minds in either case, I request the GNLU CLAT COMMITTEE to PLEASE supply a copy of our OMR sheets so we can see and confirm the mistakes for ourselves."

A Facebook group called CLAT 2014 - I want to see my OMR now has nearly 400 members since having been started yesterday.

Others on the group have also complained of discrepancies between expected and received marks of between 20 to 100 marks or more.

Update: according to a poll, around 100 test takers claimed their results were off significantly, with more than 50 claiming their test scores were 20 or more marks below what they had expected. Some students are now considering filing a public interest litigation against GNLU.

The Facebook group was started by CLAT mentor Rajneesh Singh, who had also launched an initiative two weeks ago that the CLAT model answer keys released by convenor GNLU Gandhinagar contained errors.

This ultimately resulted in GNLU declaring that two questions did indeed have two correct answers and that either answer would be deemed as the correct one (questions 41 and 131), while three answers on the original answer key were incorrect (questions 12, 76 and 145 all should have D as the correct answer).

GNLU director Bimal Patel did not respond to an SMS seeking comment at the time of going to press.

Due to some technical discrepancies, the CLAT 2014 results declared on 31 May 2014 stands withheld till further intimation and guidelines on the admission process.

The candidates are required to keep checking their LOGIN ACCOUNT regularly so that they can fill-in the preferences of the NLUs at appropriate time and also get the updated information about the CLAT in order to complete the formalities, if any, from their end. Any clarification may please be sent at . CLAT Helpdesk will answer to the query within 48 hours.

This isn't the only time this has happened. Even in the previous years, careless/wrong checking has fucked many aspirants over. The numbers seem to be much higher this time around though.

First, a terribly puerile question paper and now highly messed up scores. The difference in the batch quality will be more than visible once classes begin. You cannot even imagine how low the caliber of a number of students who made it to nlsiu/nalsar/nujs last night is. Disheartening and unjustified.

I expected to get atleast or hang somewhere around 130,but the score turned out to be only 89.
I am totally sceptical and I believe I should get the paper checked.Though I relied on self study, and the preparation was inadequate but the attemted questions had been marked correctly.I am in a state of shock now.I was taken aback by all these than.

They have to show the OMR to every student who appeared for the exam as that is what they admitted to do in reply to the Rajasthan High Court this year in a PIL D.B. CIVIL WRIT PETITION (PIL) NO. 754/2014. M/s Law Prep Tutorial Pvt. Ltd. & Ors. Vs. Union of India & Ors. In reply to the notice issued by the court in relation to transparency issues in conducting CLAT, GNLU said that every student would be able to see OMR by using log in id. Also due to the reply only the honourable court has passed the order to the same effect accordingly on 23-may-2014. Copy of the order is yet to be received so i am not able to quote the order 'verbatim'.

In CLAT its easy to prepare for exam then to get an undisputed result by the national level institute.

Will they give a copy of the question paper of that corresponding series, too? Without the correct question paper series, the answer key is meaningless!

It is assumed that an an institute like GNLU will have the required talent to conduct the exams and compile the results. The question arises then why this fiasco which end up playing with careers of thousands of students and show the nation in poor light. The only explanation is that GNLU lacked sincerity in approach while undertaking this exercise. The lack of sincerity is also evident by their procedure of making answer sheets available to candidates. The procedure is meant to discourage the candidates to check their answer sheets and at the most meant to say that the answer sheets were available to students for verification. How can they expect thousands of teenagers to travel to Ahmedabad to travel at such a short notice? Either they are making fool of candidates by indirectly discouraging the candidates or they themselves are living in a fools paradise to assume that travel at such a short notice is possible. In this e-age they should think of convenient and efficient ways of making the answer sheets available to candidates on line. Hope wiser sense will prevail and they will make the changes and keep everyone informed.

Apparently, the students have been told that the last date for verification of OMR sheets is June 5 and it needs to be done "in person." I'm afraid this reflects a despotic dictatorial attitude. GNLU administration needs to be told in no uncertain terms that it cannot arbitrarily impose terms and conditions on 25,000 hopefuls and treat them like cattle. Will GNLU arrange for train/flight charges of all the students? Will they arrange for accommodation and local transport as well? GNLU has no business to take a lion's share of the CLAT fees, play with the careers of over 25,000 students and laugh its way to the bank. Had this been US, there would have been a class action against GNLU where they would have to pay millions as damages.

Sir I also tallied my answers and there is a lot difference between the marks I got and the result published by you. Can you please upload my omr sheet on the website so that I can check it myself. Because reaching Gujarat within June 5 is not possible and also we might not get the reservations and it would involve a lot of money. so please for our convenience and yours to please upload the OMR sheet on the website.

CLAT is a pointless exam to begin with. As someone who sat for the 2009 exam (where the paper was leaked! I mean, I understand that it is common in India, but we are competing with law schools internationally for God's sake!), i truly believe that only Logic and English need to be tested to do well in law school. GK and legal knowledge etc. just lead to muggu keeda's getting selected. All those sections are completely irrelevant when you begin law school.
Moreover, NLUs lack the administration to conduct a pan- India exam like this. NLSs ar reputed solely for the achievements of their students (and a handful of facuty members).
I really think that the BCI and UGC should consider bringing all the National Law Schools under the LSAT-India which has global standards. This should also help with respect to the globalization of standards. REFORMS NEEDED BITCHES

these results are just ridiculous...gnlu admin. must now stop playing with the future of scores of students...obviously students who got more than expected won't complain...gnlu should publish the correct results asap or scrap off the exam itself....

The management at law schools like NLS and Nalsar would be the most worried. Imagine students deserving 50 to 60 scoring 100 more than what they deserve and walking into these law schools.

I am very much worried to see that for Eg-Box which i marked for Question No. 72 Was actually for question no 71.Like that almost 3/4th of the paper were wrongly printed. Boxes were printed one step down the question.

In exam I was not able to notice this mistake but today after checking my OMR myself manually I found the mistake.
I might have marked the right answer but due to OMR mis print i marked wrong box.

Totally surprised they charge Rs4000 for this quality of exam.

We demand a Re-Exam !!
