Deutsche Bank India’s head of legal, Jigar Shah, joined JPMorgan as its India head of legal in Mumbai yesterday.
Shah will head up a team of six lawyers, reporting to Asia-Pacific general counsel (GC) JT Murphy.
Shah had been at Deutsche Bank since 2002, having worked in London and Hong Kong and most recently headed up the India legal team for four years, focusing on corporate banking and securities.
Shah confirmed his move but declined to comment further at the time of going to press.
After qualifying as a solicitor of England and Wales in 1996 he had worked in private practice for around six years, ending with a stint at Linklaters before joining Deutsche Bank in London.
In the last month UBS India general counsel (GC) Nischal Hindia joined drinks giant Diageo, and former ICICI Bank GC Pramod Rao, who had joined IndusLaw for just over a year, moved to Citibank India to head up their legal team. He replaced former India GC Sandip Beri.
