Current quarter finalists are teams from Titus & Co and Kochhar & Co from Pool A; Bhasin & Co from Pool B; Luthra & Luthra and Trilegal from Pool C and Amarchand Mangaldas and Lall & Sethi from Pool D.
A total of seven decisive matches were played this weekend and Bhasin & Co won the coveted match of the week title for its second match of the weekend after the spectacular performance of associate Rajat Mathur against rival Sai Krishna.
Bhasin & Co managed to chase 208 runs target set by Sai Krishna in 19.3 overs. Mathur's brilliant knock of 189 runs in 80 balls left the audience spell bound with 160 runs coming from 25 boundaries and 10 sixes.
Captain of the team, Ravi Gopal said: "All the credit for our victory goes to Rajat Mathur. Last year we were ousted after the first round itself. We wish to perform even better and not repeat past mistakes."
The final schedule for the quarter finals will only be set after the Pool B match between K & S and Anand & Anand, which is scheduled for this Friday. The winner of that game will go through to the knock-out stage and it will also determine whether Bhasin & Co is ranked top or second of its group.
In Pool A last weekend, Titus & Co defeated Kochhar & Co as the latter firm failed to chase Titus' 207 runs and exhausted all 20 overs for 176/5. Shamik Naran was declared man of the match for scoring 70 runs in 40 balls.
The next match of Pool A was played between Suri & Co and FoxMandal Delhi and resulted in defeat for FoxMandal despite successfully notching up a total of 172/7 runs. Neither team has qualified for the quarter finals this year.
The first match of last weekend resulted in bonus point victory for Anand & Anand over Bhasin & Co in Pool B. The IP firm made 142 for 2 in 15.1 overs as against 141/9 of Bhasin.
Luthra & Luthra bowled out J Sagar Associates (JSA) at 128 after batting first to score 199/6. Prashant Mishra received the man of the match title for making 65 runs in 33 balls.
Meanwhile, Trilegal holds the second spot in Pool C and chased an easy total of 80 runs scored by opponent Khaitan & Co for a loss of eight wickets in just 9 overs, winning with a bonus point. Captain Yogesh Singh's performance of 4 wickets for 17 runs qualified him for man of the match title.
Singh commented: "Our bowlers had a good game, again! Khaitan & Co was all out for 80 and we cruised to victory in 10 overs."
"There is a bit of uncertainty regarding which team we play against in the quarters as it is dependent on the last league match. Irrespective of which team we play, our plan is to play well and enjoy the game," he added.
Pool D topper Amarchand won over Lall & Sethi with a bonus point. The firm made 126 for a loss of 5 wickets in 15.5 overs. Ashish Gupta's 4 wickets for 18 runs won him man of the match award.
Desai & Diwanji, AZB Partners, Suri & Co, FoxMandal, Sai Krishna, Khaitan & Co and JSA did not qualify for the knock-out stages.

Is this only associates or do any partners play as well?
written by Anonymous guest, 16 March 2010 14:49
heard some of Trilegal's partners play and play rather well for that matter.
written by Anonymous guest, 16 March 2010 15:48
I am told that in many firms, associates are taking lead and they are deliberately not playing their partners..........even though partners are desparate to play................associates have formed a kind of lobby to keep partners out......................

The real countdown has now started..Titus has magnificient players, bhasin too with rajat mathur leading from front...Luthra team your bat is quiet this time!! whatz going on...
written by Anonymous guest, 16 March 2010 16:45
#3 Who are these great partners? The associates must not be able to say no to them...
written by Anonymous guest, 16 March 2010 17:30
Dont quite know their names, but heard quite the contrary regarding their participation in the team. Think there are partners playing in other teams too and most of them are good.
written by Anonymous guest, 16 March 2010 17:46
Phew: Rajat Mathur hitting 189 runs out of 208 runs to beat Saikrishna, that too by hitting 160 runs in boundaries.
Must be some sort of world record in first class T-20.
The tournament seems to be a brilliant platform for associates and partners of law firms to interact with associates and partners of other law firms. Congrats to all teams for their participation in this unique team game event.
May the best team win!

3# their wicket keeper and opening batsman are both equity partners, former easily the best in the lot.

A big congrats to Rajat for the magnificent knock.....he has raised the bar fr others to follow.....since the time the 1st T20 tournament orgainsed by Turf Sports, the standard of cricket has really gone up.....every team is formidable and every match is unpredictable.....We look forward to adding the SILF trophy to our kitty after our fantastic win in the Turf T20 tournament ;).....All the Best to all quarter finalists may the best team (read Titus&co.) win :))

Rajat you are great batsman!! your firm should raise your fee or else am sure there are many other firms who are ready to buy you..
written by Anonymous guest, 16 March 2010 19:46
Rajat Mathur's performance is simply incredible!! That was his day!!
#3 and #10: the best wicket keeper in the lot, and best by far, is that robust looking guy from Luthra--i forget the name. Keeper of AMSS may come second.
Out of the 16 teams in fray in this tournament, i have no knowledge about three but every other team has Partners playing. Trilegal has a few, though it is captained by someone else; AZB, AMSS, Luthra, Lall and Sethi all have partners in the playing eleven. I think AMSS and Luthra are captained by Partners.
#4: your suggestion is not worthy of belief. Associates (for that matter other senior ppl) keeping out Partners!!!Huh!..this does not happen dude....If a Partner wants to play, he will..

#12: - I am not sure about your hope of adding of the SILF trophy to your kitty and your misconception about titus team being the best team; but many of us (i guess, including you, depending upon you being an outsider or insider, current or former, or somewhere in between of these categories) know for sure that this group of cricketers does not belong to titus.....and to that extent, I am very sure that none of the trophies already won, or those which may be won in future, would belong to titus.

#12: While I am not sure about your hope to add SILF trophy into your firm's kitty and this firm's team being the best team, many of us (I guess including you) know for sure that a substantial number of cricketers, who represent it in this tournament, does not belong to it; and therefore, no matter who wins in the end, surely this firm can never win, since it never participated effectively....

Is Rajat an ex-delhi team player?? would have been wonderful if he is also a lawyer....

#16 and 17: Sissy babies u can cry foul....if u got the balls do something bout it...else wear pink panties n dnt forget the diapers ;)

# 19, I for one hope that the other more honest law firms whoop 'your' team really badly in one of these matches. Though it would be somewhat difficult for you to see through your tear strained bleary eyes, please do not stop reading the comments on this website, as and when that happens.
Actually, given that your obsession with pink underwear and diapers probably takes up a lot of your time, if you could provide your email address, I am sure a lot of us would be happy to mail you the comments that we post here.
Out of curiosity, do you also play cricket for 'your' team or are you the type that just likes to fire the gun from the shoulders of others?

# 19 & 21: Without falling below to the level on which you survive, can I ask you to simply answer a very straightforward question - (1) whether it is 'the' Titus team, in true spirit, which is playing this tournament, and for that matter, the previous one? Frankly, I request as well as I dare you to come up with a "direct and true answer" to my question above.....

Please stop using bad language........Dont fight..................Have peace....................
Somebody said, "when you find peace within yourself, you become the kind of person who can live at peace with others...................." So, find peace within yourself
Someone also very well said, "peace is not the absence of conflict, but the ability to cope with it............" SO develop the ability to cope with conflict
So guys, have peace.............enjoy peace...............spread peace..............peace in itself is the biggest reward that you can get in life...............

U know it...either u r hitesh tara himself or somene from luthra....how can be that so much praise and a message only for him without even knowing him much and whether or not he is playing......in court, u will get rejection for taking inconsistent stands at the same time

Hahahaha!!! From Cricket field to pink panties...Only lawyers can think like this....Legally India should ban such comments..

Only outsider (desparate for becoming an insider) can think like this...ha ha ha ha !!!
written by Anonymous guest, 18 March 2010 18:16
how good is Prashant Mishra (the first down batsman of Luthra). Was he the batsman of the tournmant in Silf 2009?
written by Anonymous guest, 18 March 2010 18:36
Recession.... Recession... Find most lawyers on Cricket blog than on serious legal issues.
written by Anonymous guest, 18 March 2010 19:10
Prashant Misra, the Dasher from Darbangha, was indeed the best batsman of the SILF - 2009 tournament. From what I remember of that tournament, he scored over 350 (with 2 centuries) runs in the 6 matches that Luthra & Luthra played..

Get over it guys.. the whole T&Co fiasco has been taken to far. We got a match up between T & Co. and Luthra arguably the best two teams of the tournament - even the organizers wish that they had faced each other in the finals. Trilegal being the stronger and more organized should come thru. Between T& Co and Luthra I strongly believe that T& Co would scrape thru as Luthra is too pre-occupied with couple of players from there upcoming opposition while they are very good bowling and fielding team - its not about couple of guys batting well there top seven has very good hitters and the tail can wag. Luthra is a well knit unit, hope that they are more focussed towards game. So that we have a befitting semi-final for this hard fought tournament.
Cheers!
Cheers!

I think only "Loot raha hai & Loot raha hai" (Luthra & Luthra) is only writting these rubbish comments against Titus. And I also believe that they have some personal enmity against Titus & Co.
