I am a banking lawyer who has worked as General Counsel/ Head of Legal with Indian and MNC Bank for long. Now nearing 60, i may be retired by my current bank in the near future.
Wondering what avenues/ opportunities are open for me and worth exploring.
Favour with your candid views and suggestions from various perspectives.
Lots of law firms offer consulting opportunities. You can also start a law chamber and handle banking law cases in courts and tribunals. Maybe your old employer will give you cases?
Finally, why donβt you give guest lectures on practical areas of banking for students? You can approach Jindal, which is very open to this. If you have an LLM, especially from abroad, you can even join the faculty.
Respectfully, no professional having the experience and profile as claimed in the original post would, of all possible platforms, and considering the connections and networks they would have made during their entire career be:
(1) clueless as to what, of anything is to be done by them with respect to their career now;
and
(2) asking on Legally India, the queries as stated in the original post.
T1 law firms would kill to have someone with your connections and expertise - reach out to SAM, CAM, Saraf, Luthra, Trilegal and so on - you'll be paid handsomely for your ability to navigate the law, build clients (hopefully convince former employers to take your new employer on retainer) and to navigate the tribunals. If I were you, I'd also update myself on M&A
