There hardly used to be any place to stand in the court whenever this matter was heard as the courtroom was always jam-packed.
The rajahs and princes have been replaced by IAS/IPS/Mantris/Big Bizmen, most of whom earnestly believe they are the "rulers" post-independence.
Theories of democracy and trusteeship etc are only for textbooks and students.
The so-called 'independent' judiciary (as indeed every constitutional and democratic institution) is effectively being maneuvered by this bunch of low-lives. The Congis have had over 50 years in power to master this game.. the BJP top-brass' behaviour evokes little or no confidence.
I will be shocked if even a single one of these "rulers" get convicted in this or for that matter, Any other significant scam presently under judicial scrutiny (2G, CWG, Coal, Oil-exploration etc).. whistle-blower protection is unlikely to ever happen when such 'protection' is reserved for big Netas - who usually get effectively redeemed through death, no less.
What keeps the world from recognizing and admitting the dismal state of India's 'democracy'? Global corporate greed? The mess that is the EU and rest of the financial world? The Church and the Muslim World vis-a-vis the largest and most visible 'Hindu' nation?
While this blah sounds fantastic/jingoistic, I really see no other rationale or logic behind recent events..
