University Law College, formerly known as the Government Law College, was established by the erstwhile Government of Mysore in the year 1948. In 1976 the college came to be known as University Law College and became a part of Bangalore University.


Curriculum

The college initially offered three year L.L.B course with Prof. M. Narayana Rao as its first Principal. However, in 1986-87, under the able leadership and administration of Principal Dr. V. B. Coutinho, five year integrated course of B.A.L.L.B replaced the three year programme. The Post Graduate department of studies and research in law was introduced in the year 1976, offering the L.L.M programme.

It currently offers masters programme in Business Law, Labour and Capital Law, Environment and Legal Order.


Background

History

The erstwhile Government of Mysore (now the State of Karnataka) started the college in the year 1948. It was previously known as the Bangalore Government Law College. Prof. Narayan Rao was the first Principal of the college. From 1964, ULC was brought under the Faculty of Law of Bangalore University. ULC started with a two-year course, and later offered a three-year postgraduate LL.B. program till 1986.
