The first batch of UILS was admitted in 2004.

The Administration of UILS comes within the purview of the Panjab University, Chandigarh. And the faculty for the same is headed by the Director of the Institution Prof. Sangita Bhalla.

Admissions

Admission to the course is on the basis of an entrance test conducted by the University. The total marks for determining the merit are 200. Out of this 100 marks are for entrance test and 100 marks are for the qualifying examination i.e. 10+2.


Fee structure

Fees is around Rs. 90,000 per year.

Library and Reading Room

The University Institute of Legal Studies has an independent library. The library has a well stock of books, reference sources and journals. The library has a collection of 8050 books and reference tools. The library subscribes to over 62 journals comprising of both Indian and International publications. New publications are added and updated from time to time. The library materials are arranged on the stacks in classified order according to the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) Scheme. These are kept in open access. Card catalogue system has been maintained as a location tool which makes it easy to search for books by title and author. The library provides rich and conducive environment for the students to learn and share knowledge. The library has two big reading halls.
