Background

History

National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi was established in year 2010 as per NUSRL, Ranchi Act 2010 by Government of Jharkhand as the 14th National Law University of India.

Location

The University is presently functioning from it's own campus,The Govt. of Jharkhand had allotted 63 acres of land at Nagri Village(Kanke) in Ranchi and also a one-time grant of 50 Crores.

Administration

Chancellor :- His Excellency, The Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court.

Vice-Chancellor :- Prof. AK Koul (Former Vice-Chancellor of NLU Jodhpur and Former Dean of Faculty of Law, Delhi University).

Registrar :- Aloke Kumar Sengupta.

Notable Faculty :- Dr. Alok Kumar Gupta (Dean),Prof. Nimesh Das Guru, Dr.Debasis Poddar.

Total Faculty :- 15.

Total Number of Students :- Around 160 in total.

Intake :- Five year Integrated BA(Hons) LLB(Hons) - 100 each year.

Other courses :- Four year Integrated LLM-Ph.D and Three year JSD.

Admissions

For Five Year Integrated BA(Hons) LLB(Hons), the admission is through Common Law Admission Test.

For LLM-PhD and JSD, it is through an Entrance test, Group Discussion and the Interview conducted by the University.

Fee structure

Five Year BA(Hons) LLB(Hons) :- First year :- Rs.2,02,000(Including Caution Deposits). Second Year Onwards :- Rs.1,62,000.
