Background
History
National Law University, Delhi was founded in 2008 with Prof. (Dr.) Ranbir Singh as the Vice-Chancellor and Prof. (Dr.) Ghanshyam Singh as Registrar.
Location
The University is located in Sector-14, Dwarka, New Delhi. It is well connected by Metro and DTC. The office of the Intellectual Property Rights is just beside the campus.

Admissions
The University conducts an entrance examination each year. The paper comprises of 150 questions of 1 mark each and is of 1.5 hours duration. Candidates are tested on General Knowledge, Mathematics, Legal Knowledge and Reasoning, Logical Reasoning and English.

Infrastructure
Hostels
There is separate hostel for boys and girls in different buildings inside the campus. Its mandatory for all the students of NLU Delhi to stay on campus in the hostels, no one can be a day scholar. The infrastructure of both the hostels are same, with 6 floors each and the ground floor reserved for mess, warden's office, hostel reception, 2 guards (24*7), general store room, common room, etc. The six floors are connected by stairs as well as 2 lifts (elevators). Each floor consists of 16 rooms (including 2 store rooms each) with residing capacity of 2 students per room. The rooms are well furnished with bed, wall fitted wardrobes, chair, drawer table, and shelves. The rooms are well-ventilated with windows fitted with nets and grills along with glass panes. The upper 3 floors have balconies attached to each of the rooms. Each washroom has 2 bathing rooms, 3 wash basins and 2 toilets and altogether each floor has 4 such washrooms. The curfew timings of the hostels are 9.00 pm.
Library and Reading Room
The University has an amazing collection of legal volumes with the entire library costing around 6 crores.
IT Infrastructure
There are a number of computers available for student use, both in the Computer Lab in the Academic Block and the Internet Centre in the Library. The computers are well connected by the internet. The campus is well-connected by wi-fi (wireless fidelty) internet connection.
Extra Curricular Activities
Mooting
Intra-moot court competitions are held every year to select teams to participate in various national and international moot court competitions.
- The NLUD team consisting of Ms. Alokika Singh, Mr. Pratyush Panjwani and Mr. Harshit Bansal won the runners-up trophy at the IInd Fiat Justitia National Moot Court Competition, 2011 held at the Ambedkar Government Law College, Chennai. The team also went on to win the award for the 2nd best memorial in the competition which comprised of three different moot problems on which the team argued at different stages of the competition.
- The NLUD team comprising of Mr. Vishwam Jindal, Mr. Sameer Dawar and Mr. Devesh Saboo reached the Semi Finals of 12th D.M. Harish Memorial Government College International Moot court Competition, 2011 held on February 11-13, 2011 at Government Law College, Mumbai.
- The NLUD team consisting of Ms. Meghna Chandra and Mr. Ankit Bhasin reached the semi-finals of 22nd All India Kerala Law Academy Moot Court Competition, 2011 held at Kerala Law Academy, Thiruvananthpuram. Ms. Meghna Chandra was also adjudged as the Best Lady Student Advocate in the competition where 54 colleges from India had participated. The team had faced RMNLU, Lucknow in the Quarter finals whom they defeated and qualified for the semi-finals.
- The NLUD team consisting of Ms. Medhavi Singh, Mr. Harshad Pathak and Mr. Rayan Azmi won the runners-up trophy at the VIIth K.K. Luthra Memorial Moot Court Competition, 2011 held at Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi. A total number of 46 teams participated in this competition including NLS Bangalore, NALSAR, NUJS and Warwick. NLUD team faced NLS Bangalore in the semi-finals and George Washington University, USA in the finals. The finals were judged by Hon'ble Justice Mukta Gupta, Hon'ble Justice Moolchand Garg and Hon'ble Justice Bashir.
- The NLUD team comprising of Mr. Arjun Masters, Ms. Shweta Duggal and Mr. Sai Teja Vengala won the best team award at the 5th Law Asia International Moot Court Competition held in New Delhi in November 2010.
- The NLUD team comprising of Mr. Aditya Singha, Mr. Paramvir Singh and Devanshu Sajlan won the Hidayatullah National Moot Court Competition held at HNLU Raipur in October 2010. Mr. Aditya Singha also bagged the Best Oralist Award and Mr. Devanshu Sajlan won the Best researcher Award. The team also won the 2nd Best Memorial Award.
- The NLUD team comprising of Ms. Gunjan Chawla, Ms. Deepika Sriram and Mr. Rahul Seth reached the finals of the Henry Dunant Red Cross Moot (India Rounds) in September 2010.
- The NLUD team comprising of Mr. Hardeep Singh, Mr. Sameer Dawar and Mr. Paramvir Singh was ranked 3rd in the Ist International Air Law Moot Court Competition held on March 3-6, 2010 at NLUD Campus. Mr. Hardeep Singh was awarded as the best Oralist and awarded a scholarship by Ministry of Transport, The Netherlands for LL.M. Programme in the Air & Space Law at Laiden University, The Netherlands.
- The NLUD team comprising of Mr. Hardeep Singh, Ms. Devna Arora and Mr. Mubashshshir Sarshar reached in the Semi Finals of the 12th M. M. Singhvi Memorial – Bar Council of India International Law Moot Court Competition – 2009 held at NLU, Jodhpur.
- The NLUD team comprising of Mr. Hardeep Singh, Ms. Devna Arora and Mr. Siddharth Garg reached the Semi Finals of the 14th Stetsons International Environmental Moot Court Competition – 2009 (North India Rounds)held at Bhopal.
Sports Achievements
A contingent of fifteen students from the top three ears was sent to compete against the best of India's law colleges in Virudhaka 2010, the Sports Fest of National Law Institute, Bhopal, and returned with the trophy for the Overall Best College and a medal tally of four gold medals and four silver medals, which included a gold in football, table tennis, lawn tennis, and swimming. Apart from the team achievements, the college also claimed most of the individual awards with the Best Player of the Tournament being awarded to Vinayak Bhandari (3rd year).
