Organisers

The Justice Hidayatullah Memorial National Moot Court Competition is organised by Hidayatullah National Law University in the memory of Late Mr. Justice M. Hidayatullah, former Acting President and Chief Justice of India. Hidayatullah National Law University organized the 1st Justice Hidayatullah Memorial National Moot Court Competition on the completion of Centenary Celebration of the Late Mr. Justice M. Hidayatullah in 2007. The 2nd Justice Hidayatullah Memorial National Moot Court Competition was organized in association with Competition Commission of India and law firm - Lakhsmi Kumaran & Sridharan in the year 2008. The 3rd Moot Court Competition is going to be organized by the Hidayatullah National Law University in association with the Competition Commission of India and the All India Bar Association from 22nd October, 2010 to 24th October, 2010. The list of affiliates supporting the 3rd edition of the Competition is still to be updated.

Location

The Hidayatullah National Law University until coming up of its new and fully residential campus in May 2009 used to have its provisional campus in a heritage building provided to it by the Government of Chhattisgarh. The earlier two editions of the Justice Hidayatullah Memorial National Moot Court Competition were organised by Hidayatullah National Law University at the provisional campus with Ceremonial Sessions being held at the Town Hall, Raipur and Hotel Babylon International, Raipur. The 3rd Justice Hidayatullah Memorial National Moot Court Competition is being organised in its new and magnificient campus developed at Naya Raipur in the village Uperwara spanned approximately over 70 acres of land. The University is expecting to organise the inaugural session, all the moot rounds and the closing ceremony of the Competition in the well developed Academic Block which has built-in multiple moot court halls, extensive library and an auditorium with seating capacity of around 350 persons.

  • Winners: ₹ 25,000 and Winner’s Trophy.
  • Runner's Up: ₹ 15,000 and Runner’s up Trophy.
  • Third Best Team Award:₹ 10,000 and Third Best Team's Trophy.
  • Best Oralist: ₹ 5,000 and Best Oralist Trophy.
  • Best Memorial: ₹ 5,000 and Best Memorial Trophy.
  • Best Researcher: ₹ 5,000 (Kautilya Kaushik Memorial Award) and Trophy.


Dates of moot in 2010-11

The 3rd Justice Hidayatullah Memorial National Moot Court Competition, 2010 is being held from 22nd October, 2010 to 24th October, 2010 at the Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur. The event is being organised by the University in association with the Competition Commission of India and the All India Bar Association. The Official Schedule of the Competition is as follows:

Deadlines

4thSeptember, 2010: Notification of Competition and Publication of Moot Problem.

14th September, 2010: Last date for requesting clarification on Moot Problem.

21st September, 2010: Posting of clarifications on Moot Problem on the Website.

1st October, 2010: Last Date for Registration.

15th October, 2010: Last date for submission of memorials in soft copy.

2nd Justice Hidayatullah Memorial National Moot Court Competition, 2008

The 2nd Justice Hidayatullah Memorial National Moot Court Competition, 2008 was made a success by participation of a total of 27 teams from all over the country. The Competition was won by the team representing I.L.S., Pune while the Team representing N.L.U., Jodhpur was adjudged as the runners-up. The awards for the Best Oralist and the Best Memorial both went to the Team representing G.L.C., Mumbai.

The 2nd Justice Hidayatullah Memorial National Moot Court Competition was organised from 7th-9th March 2008.
