J Sagar Associates (JSA)
J Sagar Associates, which is commonly known as JSA, is an Indian law firm. It was founded by Jyoti Sagar and Berjis Desai in 1991 and has offices in New Delhi, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Bangalore.
The founding partners have a clear vision about the structure of the law firm. They say JSA is not a personality driven firm but a merit backed partnership. The firm believes in organization of work and clear practice areas, currently they have eight practice areas and practice chairs which coordinate the work.
Management Strategy
Men may come and men may go but JSA must go on forever is the belief of the founding partners. Founding Partner Jyoti Sagar in an interview said: " A key element of our structure is that we are what we call “one nation one firm”. That means we do not have different firms with different sets of Partners at geographical locations operating under the same name. Some of the law firms are structured like that. But we do not have a Mumbai partnership which is different from a Delhi partnership or a Bangalore partnership. We are one firm with one balance sheet, one profit and loss account and the entire Partnership shares from the same kitty. We are fully and financially integrated. RSG India in 2011 survey of law firms ranked JSA as the third best firm. It writes: "A firm that is chasing hard on the heels of the top two firms in the RSG top 40 ranking, AZB and Amarchand. RSG researchers wonder when the firm will make that leap, and feel that it is currently more a matter of perception than reality. JSA has a solid rank of senior partners that is actually lacking in the other two firms outside the top individuals, but does not seem able, as yet, to convert their profiles into market feedback."

The team served as co-counsel to a multinational sportswear company in LCIA arbitration and then acted for the client before the Delhi High Court in opposing a challenge to the award made by the arbitral tribunal."
