The Indian Law Society was established in 1923. The Indian Law Society established the Law College in 1924, which has since then established itself as a premier institute for legal studies in India. In 2004, the ILS  Law College was accredited the A+ level by NAAC.

She has been the Principal of ILS Law College since 1994. She has visited and lectured in various law-schools in the USA, viz. the Brandeis School of Law, Louisville, the New York University Law School, and the Centre for International and Comparative Law, University of Baltimore.Areas of specialization are Family Law, Private International Law, and Legal Theory.She has authored a number of articles published in various legal books and journals. Her publications include the widely received book 'Vrittapatra aani Kayadaa' (Newspapers and the Law). She has also contributed to the draft of 'Uniform Civil Code'.

She joined ILS as a faculty in 1981.Dr Sagade has been a UGC Fellow and also received the ICSSR fellowship, Fulbright Scholarship, and Fellowship of the Netherlands Government for Human Rights course at the Hague, University of Toronto scholarship for SJD.Areas of interest: Human Rights, Feminist Jurisprudence, Family Law, and Rights of Women and Children.Publications: Contributed to the draft 'Uniform Civil Code'; 'Child Marriage in India: Sociological and Human Rights Dimension', published by Oxford University Press, New Delhi.
 
 
 
Dr. Sita Bhatia, Associate Professor
 
MA and PhD (Political Science) from Pune University.LLB from ILS Law College. Teaching since 1984.Member of the Amnesty International, People's Union of Civil LibertiesDr. Bhatia joined ILS Law College as faculty in 1985.  She works for the Legal Aid Centre of the College and teaches Human Rights and Law. She has completed courses in Human Rights and Teaching from the International Institute of Human Rights, Strasbourg, and on 'Human Right to Food and Nutrition' from the CEU, Budapest. Areas of interest: Political Science, Human Rights and Law and International Relations.Publications: 'Freedom of the Press', 1997 - a book; 'Dimensions of Law' (editor). She joined ILS as a part-time lecturer in 1993 and was appointed as a full-time lecturer in 1994.Areas of interest: Laws relating to Contracts, Intellectual Property, Insurance and Advocacy Skills, especially Moot Courts. She is the in-charge of the moot-court activities in the college.Publications: Revised 12th edition in two volumes of Pollock and Mulla's Indian Contract and Specific Relief Acts.Invited for lectures in Contracts, Evidence, Procedure and Intellectual Property at MHADA, YASHADA, CDA and MCCIA etc. Also resource person in training programmes on Teaching Methods and seminars about Intellectual Property.
