Background

History

Amity Law School Delhi was founded under the aegis of the Ritnand Balved Education Foundation (RBEF) in 1999. It is affiliated to the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University of Delhi and has been approved by the Bar Council of India.

Facts & Figures

The Law School aims to provide excellence in legal education and produce quality lawyers in accordance with the Advocates Act, 1961. Students enrolled in the 5-year LLB Honours programme are fully equipped with the required theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the field of law to become full-fledged responsible members of the legal profession. The Law School has rapidly scaled the ladder of success and has been ranked among the top ten law schools in India for five years in a row (2006-2010)

Admissions

Admissions are conducted through a Combined Entrance Test, held by GGS Indraprastha University in May every year. The Entrance test has the following subjects:

   * English comprehension
   * Current Affairs/General Knowledge
   * Legal Awareness
   * Reasoning and Analytical Ability

Past year papers may be obtained from the University upon payment for the same.

Prospective students should have passed, with at least 50% marks in aggregate with English as a compulsory subject in any of the following examinations:-

i) Senior School Certificate Examination (Class XII) of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) ii) An examination recognized as equivalent to the Senior School Certificates Examination of the CBSE.

The Candidate should be below 21 years of age on 1st August.


Application process and reservations

Applications may be made online at the University website or by purchasing an admission brochure from the same. Please refer to www.ipu.ac.in for more information on applications.

State/University Reservation policies apply for a maximum of 10% seats. Eight (8)seats are reserved for admission through the management quota, the candidates for which are selected ONLY from within the merit list.

Infrastructure

Facilities

The law school also has an auditoruium with 200 plus capacity within walking distance,a basketball court, football and cricket field and will soon have a gymnasium and an olympic size swimming pool on campus,which is shared with Amity University.

A canteen serves Indian and continental snacks throughout the day. The law school provides hostel and mess facilities to out-station students on campus.

Library and Reading Room

The law school has a spacious,automated library, with more than 15000 volumes covering more than 1100 titles and 70 journals and periodicals. It has been regularly subscribing to 51 journals and law reports relevant to the course curriculum and 19 weeklies and magazines and 8 newspapers. There is also provision for online research, both legal and non-legal through subscriptions to relevant databases.

IT Infrastructure

The law school has a fully equipped computer center, with more than 50 networked, internet enabled workstations. Scanning and printing facilities are also available to students. Furthermore, the campus is Wi-Fi enabled, giving students the freedom to carry on research and presentations anywhere on campus through their laptops.
