University of Petroleum and Energy Studies’ (UPES), is a Statutory University established through an Act of the State legislature, Govt. of Uttarakhand, at Dehradun and is recognized by UGC under Sec. 2(f). It is the first Indian Energy University which got approved by UGC.

Also, it is the first Indian Energy University accredited by Energy Institute, UK, offering 42 specialized programs at undergraduate and postgraduate level across Oil & Gas, Power, Transportation, Infrastructure and Logistics & Supply Chain sectors in the country. In pursuance of its commitment to provide world class education, training, research, consultancy and outreach services in the areas of Oil and Gas, Energy Transportation and allied sectors.

UPES has brought forward an integrated five year program in BA.LLB with emphasis on Energy Laws in the year 2007 and BBA.LLB with emphasis on Corporate Laws in 2009. In addition to this UPES’s new venture of introducing a six year program in BTech.LLB with emphasis on Cyber laws and BTech.LLB with emphasis on Intellectual Property Rights is the first of its kind of program in the whole of South Asia.

About Dr. Paras Diwan
Dr. Paras Diwan is a stalwart in the field of law acclaimed for his treatise on Hindu Law. Dr. Diwan has written various other books on Law of Marriage and Divorce, Environment Administration, Law and Judicial Attitude, Private International Law and many more. Dr. Diwan’s contribution to the legal fraternity is significant and unforgettable. The present Moot Court Competition is named in the memory of Dr. Paras Diwan and is a tribute to him.

About the Competition
Keeping up with its vision, UPES College of Legal Studies is proudly announcing its first Moot Court Competition in Energy Laws. Tthe Moot Proposition would confirm itself to the areas of Oil and Gas, Energy sector, Transportation and allied sectors nationally and internationally.
