More basic / advanced lit strategy for Salman Khan: Files caveat in SC

"Bollywood actor Salman Khan filed a caveat petition in the Supreme Court today asking to be heard when the Maharashtra government’s appeal against his acquittal in the 2002 hit-and-run case comes up for hearing,” reported The Indian Express.

A caveat would prevent the apex court from making any ex parte orders against Khan without him getting a chance to appear.

Salman Khan’s legal team including DSK Legal and senior counsel Amit Desai and Harish Salve, won an exoneration by the Bombay high court in an appeal heard in record time, after his original trial took years, convicted him, but immediately resulted in bail.

Khan was helped in part by good PR and a solid legal defence strategy that is not available to the average defendant in a criminal case, reported Foreign Policy.
