Ex-AAP law min Tomar seeks closure of fake degree case in Delhi HC

The Delhi high court on Monday issued notice to the Bar Council of India (BCI) and the Bar Council of Delhi (BCD) on a plea filed by Delhi’s former law minister Jitender Singh Tomar seeking closure of the fake degree case against him.

Justice VP Vaish sought response from the Bar Council of India (BCI), the Bar Council of Delhi (BCD), Avadh University from where Tomar claimed to have completed his BSc degree, and Bishwanath Singh Institute of Legal Study College (BSILS) in Munger, Bihar, where he claimed to have done his LLB

Tomar told the court that police registered a criminal case against him where he is facing prosecution, and so the case filed against him which had sought inquiry into the alleged forged degrees obtained by him does not survive.

Advocate Santosh Kumar Sharma had earlier moved the high court saying Tomar submitted a “fake and bogus” undergraduate degree in science from Avadh University to get enrolled in the BSILS

Tomar was enrolled as a lawyer by the BCD on the basis of a law degree from BSILS

He was booked for alleged offences of cheating, forgery, using forged documents, forgery with intent to cheat and criminal conspiracy. He was arrested, but is now out on bail.
