Tatva Legal partner Ekta Bahl has resigned the firm to join Samvad Partners to set up its Hyderabad office to extend “the reach of the firm to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana”.

Tatva Legal advised the Bangalore Elevated Tollway and NCC Infrastructure Holdings on the Rs 750 crore sale of stake in the tollway to India Infrastructure Fund II which was advised by Trilegal.

Tatva Hyderabad partner Ekta Bahl and manager Pratyush Singh acted for the Tollway and NCC

Trilegal Delhi partners Yogesh Singh and Saurabh Bhasin, counsel Ravi Mahto, senior associates Amar Narula and Tanya Mehta and associate Astha Srivastava acted for the fund.

NCC and Soma hold 38 per cent stake each in BETL, while Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services holds 24 per cent, according to Mint.

Rajani Singhania & Partners advised surgical sutures maker Stericat Gut Strings on the acquisition of a majority stake in it by French firm Groupe Peters Surgical which was advised by Tatva Legal.

Rajani managing partner Prem Rajani, partner Poorvi Sanjanwala and associates Nishtha Mehta and Kashmira Bakliwal acted for Stericat.

Tatva Delhi partner Simran Singh and lawyer Sumit Khosla acted for Groupe Peters.

The finance ministry rejected the request for approval for the deal on the ground that the acquisition partly involved share swap whereas it had only granted Stericat approval to bring in Rs 43.52 crore of FDI in cash through the sale of 77.5 per cent of its shares to Groupe, reported the PTI.

Khaitan & Co advised BMM Cements and its promoters on their Rs 560 crore ($90m) buy of Sagar Cements, which was advised by Tatva Legal.

Khaitan Bangalore partner Ganesh Prasad acted for BMM Cements. Tatva Hyderabad partners Shailendra Komatreddy and Rajeev Reddy acted for Sagar Cements.

The deal was approved by Hyderabad-based Sagar’s board of directors In September.

Tatva Legal advised US-based technology company Brillio's subsidiary Brillio Technology in buying data analytics start up Ashley Marketelligent, which was advised by Samvad Partners. 

Tatva partners NK Dilip and Raghunath Anathapur and senior associate Rashmi Talukdar acted for Brillio. Samvad partner Neela Badami acted for Ashley. 

The deal is the latest in a list of recent M&As by technology companies in India, with Facebook buying Little Eye Labs and Yahoo snapping up Bookpad this year, reported the Economic Times.

I&S Associates co-founder Anuradha Iyer joined Tatva Legal as a partner in Mumbai, in the firm’s corporate practice, while the firm promoted three managers to partnership, reported legal website Bar & Bench.

Iyer had set up I&S with Bakhtiar Sunavala in 2006 after her nine year stint at AZB & Partners. She graduated from GLC Mumbai and qualified as a Bombay solicitor.

Managers Ritika Pal and Seher Ali in Delhi and Raghunath Ananthapur in Bangalore were made up.

Tatva Legal advised micro-financier Grameen Financial Services (GFSPL), which received Rs 37.5 crore ($6.8m) of funding from US-based Creation Investments that was advised by J Sagar Associates (JSA).

Tatva Legal Bangalore senior associate Bhargava KS and manager Raghunath Ananthapur with assistance from partner Manav Nagaraj acted for Bangalore-headquartered GFSPL.

J Sagar Associates Delhi partner Lalit Kumar with associates Zain Pandit, John MA and Bharati Joshi acted for the social venture fund Creation Investments Capital Management.

Existing investors Microventures and Incofin also invested in this third round, according to the company's press release, raising a total of Rs 53.2 crore ($9.6m).
