Indus Law advised India’s third-largest drug maker Cipla on its Rs 90 crore ($13m) buy of cosmetics maker Percos india’s brand rights. Percos was advised by N South Law Associates.

Indus partner Nishant Singh, senior associate Aditi Verma Thakur and associates Vaibhav Ganjiwale, Ramya Sridhar and Chhavi Jhanji acted for Cipla on the deal which, according to Business Today was valued at Rs 90 crore.

N South Law partner Inderraj Gill acted for Percos India which manufactures a wide array of skin care products.

According to the agreement signed by the two companies, Percos will continue to manufacture the products for five years, after which the rights will be transferred to Cipla, as confirmed by the Economic Times.

Micromax plans to invest between $500,000 and $20m in over 20 start-ups this year with the help of its newly installed mergers and acquisitions (M&As) team, reported Mint.

In November 2014, Olacabs had raised $210m from SIMI and its existing investors including Tiger Global, Matrix Partners India and Steadview Capital.

Ran Chakrabarti, the co-founder of William Chakrabarti & Associates, has joined IndusLaw as a partner in Delhi from 1 August.

UK educated, he began his career in London and Singapore at Ashurst and White & Case and moved to India in 2007 to join Amarchand Mangaldas, moving to legal process outsourcer (LPO) CPA Global in 2010 in the outsourced legal team for Rio Tinto as lead lawyer.

In a press release Indus co-founder Gaurav Dani said that Chakrabarti would add to the firm’s capacity in international debt transactions, infrastructure and project finance.

Chakrabarti commented in the press release: “I’ve known the team at IndusLaw for some time now. It’s great to be joining a vibrant and ambitiouspractice and grow existing synergies.”

Chakrabarti could not be reached for comment at the time of going to press.
