Just as his resignation as the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) president in February was an impulsive decision, Dushyant Dave’s withdrawal of his resignation today also proved to be similarly emotional.
During the inauguration of the SCBA’s newly furnished room in the Supreme Court’s complex, Dave was easily persuaded to change his decision to quit, by the encomiums heaped on him by the Chief Justice of India (CJI), TS Thakur, who was chief guest at the function, reported Live Law and Bar & Bench.
Dave’s letter of withdrawal of his resignation, which was silent on the bickering within the SCBA executive committee that marked his somewhat bizarre recent exit, appears to have been a result of Thakur attributing Dave credit for his contribution in securing the room for the SCBA, which had so far been without a room for its members.
At a momentous occasion like yesterday’s, a chief guest of the CJI’s stature could not help ruminating the decision of the architect of SCBA’s recent resurgence to quit on issues, which to many, appeared silly and trivial.
Therefore, good sense appears to have prevailed on Dave that his resignation should not send the message that he is incapable of working in a team or that he has a big ego.
That Dave’s withdrawal of his resignation happens just a day after the vice-president of SCBA, Ajit Kumar Sinha, was voted in to officiate as president for the rest of the SCBA’s term, as reported by Legally India earlier, may well be a coincidence.
