Ex-SAMer Kalpataru Tripathy acts for Fusion Micro Finance on $75m cash infusion from Warburg, opposite CAM, JSA, Vertices, IC Universal

US-based PE firm Warburg Pincus has acquired an indirect minority stake in Fusion Micro Finance Private Limited, an MFI based out of Delhi, through a primary subscription as well as secondary acquisition from certain early stage investors., according to reports.

KT Advisors advised Fusion Micro Finance Private Limited led by a team of managing partner Kalpataru Tripathy (who had left Shardul Amarchand in 2016 to start KT), principal associate Ishita Bhardwaj and associate Jatin Talwar.

Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas acted for Warburg Pincus, led by partners Reeba Chacko, Gaurav Singhi and Shishir Vaytadden. They were assisted on RBI & regulatory advice by senior advisor Anand Sinha, financial regulatory partner Shruti Rajan and director Gazal Rawal. Tax advice was provided by tax head and director Daksha Baxi and private clients director Kunal Savani and competition law advice by competition law partner Anshuman Sakle.

J Sagar Associates (JSA) acted for the existing investor Creation Investments Fusion LLC, led by a team including partner Lalit Kumar and principal associate Bharati Joshi, with partner Kumarmanglam Vijay advising on the tax aspects of the transaction.

Vertices Partners for exiting investor Norwegian Microfinance Initiative.

IC Universal Legal acted for exiting Belgian investor Incofin.
