Nishith Desai’s animal healthcare player SeQuent bought by AZB’s Carlyle for $209m

The US based private equity firm The Carlyle Group has agreed to acquire 74% stake in SeQuent Scientific Limited, the largest pure-play animal healthcare company in India, for $210 million (Rs.1587 crore), company said on Friday. Carlyle will buy shares at a price of Rs.86 apiece.

Nishith Desai Associates advised SeQuent and the promoters of Sequent, including Arun Kumar and family with M&A co-head and leader Simone Reis, leader Shreyas Bhushan and senior lawyer Amudavalli Kannan.

AZB & Partners advised The Carlyle Group led by a team of partners Zia Mody, Darshika Kothari and Sayak Maity, senior associates Sneha Nagvekar and Pankhuri Govil.

White & Case also acted for Carlyle.
