Heinz India led by Lall Lahiri Salhotra (LLS) has won a trademark infringement case against PepsiCo, which was advised by Singh & Singh Advocates before the Delhi High Court over the use of Pepsi's trademarked tagline, "Rehydrate, Replenish and Recharge".
On 31 May the court rejected the interim application of PepsiCo-owned Stokley Van Camp, which had objected to the use of similar slogan by Heinz for marketing its product Glucon – D Isotonik.
Stokley argued that Heinz's slogan "rehydrates fluids, replenishes vital salts and recharges glucose" was lifted from its own advertisement of sports energy drink Gatorade.
LLS managing partner Anuradha Salhotra fought for Heinz and Singh & Singh partner Pratibha M Singh represented Stokely.
