Bharuchas, Manu Singhvi lose in Bombay HC v Fali Nariman in landmark Wadia / Raheja property dispute

Senior advocate Fali Nariman led industrial house Wadia Group’s victory in a high-profile property dispute matter in the Bombay High Court against real estate developers G L Raheja which was represented by Bharucha & Partners and senior counsel Abhishek Manu Singhvi, reported the Economic Times.

Advocate Shreekant Doijode of attorneys Doijode Associates had instructed Nariman.

Zubin Behramkamdin of Bharucha was instructed by G L Raheja and retained Singhvi.

The decision asserts Wadia Groups administrative control over a 600-acre plot of land in a Mumbai suburb is believed to have widespread ramification on Mumbai’s real estate sector and other cases with similar facts, according to the Economic Times.

The High Court rejected the builder group’s petition that had challenged Wadia’s role as the property’s administrator.

Wadia was appointed as the contentious property’s administrator by its owner’s sister in 1970s further entrusted its development on to the builder Raheja vide an agreement leading to the current dispute.
