Legal Process Outsourcing (LPO) company Pangea3 has hired 18 students through campus placements this year with a majority 12 coming from non-national law schools, as the company has moved into larger Delhi office and plans to grow the location with significant investment.

The LPO has budgeted to spend Rs 48 crores over the next two years towards the development of its new office, which is located in Noida's sector 58 and with staff having transferred from its old Delhi satellite office in January.

Pangea3 co-CEO Sanjay Kamlani said: "Frankly I expect our Delhi office ultimately to be bigger than our Mumbai office. There's probably more legal talent in Delhi than in Mumbai and it is certainly far more cost effective to run a business out of Delhi than central Mumbai, even in the suburbs."

Pangea3's main office is located in Mumbai's Andheri area (pictured), where it employs around 500 staff, while its Delhi  office has grown from 30 to 70 staff in the past four months since moving into its 14,000 square foot office there.

According to the Kamlani the site includes expansion capability of more than 28,000 square feet and 300 additional seats, while the company would invest at least Rs 16 crores ($3.5m) in 2010 into Delhi and double that amount in 2011.

GNLU Gandhinagar: 2
NLU Jodhpur: 2

NLIU Bhopal: 1
NUJS Kolkata: 1

Falling in line with facility building is Pangea3's aim to increase manpower base in Delhi to 150 lawyers in 2010. Kamlani explained: "In just the past month, we have recruited more than 50 lawyers, and within the next 3 to 6 months, we expect to recruit more than 100 additional lawyers for our Delhi facility."

The LPO has also recruited 18 law students from law school campuses in the past year, with five coming from national law schools (see table, right).

The new centre will discharge full services including corporate and risk management compliance while earlier it had only been delivering patent analytics, patent prosecution services, litigation and electronic discovery services from Delhi.

Pangea3 is backed by private equity firms GlenRock Capital and Sequoia Capital, which invested $4.4m in 2004 and $7m in 2007 respectively. Within the last year Pangea3 grew headcounts by 50 per cent in Mumbai.
