PXV Law Partners, together with its French best friend firm DS Avocats, acted for French $1.9bn agricultural conglomerate Groupe Limagrain that bought Delhi-based vegetable seeds maker Century Seeds, represented by Bangalore firm Narasappa Doraswamy Raja.

PXV stepped up with partners GT Thomas Phillippe and Anuj Sahay and senior associate Shivani Chugh for Groupe Limagrain, which also drew on French firm DS Avocats partner Olivier Monange at home.

DS Avocats had entered into a best friendship with RDA Legal, as PXV was called in 2010.

Narasappa Doraswamy partner Harish Narasappa represented Century Seeds.

According to the Economic Times the French company paid between Rs 140-145 crore ($25-26m) in an all-cash deal, in one of the largest M&A deals in the seeds space.

Jindal was advised by Khaitan & Co in his Rs 200 crore defamation suit filed in the high court on Thursday against the news channel.

J Sagar Associates (JSA) has promoted two of its senior associates - Zerick Dastur and Ananya Kumar - to salaried partner.

Dastur is based in Mumbai and specialises in dispute resolution, while also Kumar focuses on dispute resolution from Delhi, according to Bar & Bench.

JSA’s single firm equity partnership is currently full-up at 20, though Aashit Shah was promoted as the third “equity partner elect” in June, alongside one salaried partner promotion.

Legal Process Outsourcing (LPO)

Gurgaon-based OSC Export Services – international law firm Clifford Chance’s five-year-old captive Indian LPO-cum-offshoring-centre – has doubled in size to 60 consultants in the last two years.

27 Clifford Chance offices across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and USA sent over 500 projects to the LPO in the 2011-12 financial year, according to the firm's annual report that publishes highlights of the firm's business year.

Besides assisting Clifford Chance offices on LPO-style legal work, around 16 per cent of the firm's non-secretarial business services staff is also now based in Gurgaon in the so-called Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC), which follows a captive business process outsourcing (BPO) model. The smallest foreign law firms’ (1-20 lawyers) marketing budgets have grown to $155,000 out of which more than $17,000 was spend related to their website every year. Total marketing spend could be more than $7.5m overall, and more than $46,500 on websites for the biggest law firms.

Most foreign law firms consider websites central to their marketing efforts, and 38 per cent of the 184 law firms surveyed went for a website revamp more than once annually.

Furthermore, a total of 38 per cent of law firms' total marketing budget was now spent in online marketing activities.
