NLS 2007 alum Aprajita Dhundia makes Kirkland partnership

NLSIU Bangalore 2007 alumnus Aprajita Dhundia made partner at Kirkland & Ellis in London, reported Legal Business.

Dhundia, who is one among four corporate partners made in this round of eight partnership promotions in London, joined Kirkland as an associate in March 2013. She began her career at SJ Berwin, as a Graduate Solicitor, in 2007.

She enrolled with the Bar Council of Delhi in 2007 as an advocate, according to Kirkland’s website, and was admitted by the Law Society of England & Wales in 2012 as a solicitor, according to the Law Society’s website.

Kirkland promoted 90 lawyers to join its 735-global partnership in this round. The firm does not tend to promote partners to equity-sharing, but it promotes associates to partnership earlier on in their careers and thus has a large number of junior partners, added Legal Business.

By contrast, it takes eight to nine years on an average to make partner in India’s biggest law firms, as revealed in Legally India research.

In 2015, 2003 NLSIU graduate Karthik Kumar joined Jones Day’s equity partnership.
