(Cyril) Amarchand to pick up second senior Kochhar Delhi partner, many-headed Manishi Pathak

Kochhar & Co senior partner Manishi  Pathak is due to join the post Amarchand Mangaldas-break-up Delhi office of Amarchand Mumbai region managing partner Cyril Shroff, according to sources with knowledge of the move.

Pathak did not respond to an email seeking comment since last week.

According to Kochhar’s website, he is a senior partner in Kochhar’s corporate practice, co-chairs the employment practice, heads the regulatory practice and is in charge of the South East Asia practice, across corporate, M&A, private equity and employment law.

We have reached out to Shroff and Kochhar managing partner Rohit Kochhar for comment.

Is anyone wondering about the storm that is coming once all these partners start running around and pitching for clientele to justify the presumably high packages that are being paid to lure them to leave their current firms? Will LI also cover client movements - Seems like this divide will give LI enough to run with for this entire year. That is a practical statement and not a weighted remark against LI!

Only Rohit Kochar left to join. CAM is increasingly looking like Janta Dal (United).

Cyril knows best for his firm (saying his because I don't know of much say of other partners matter for either brother) but how different is this from Khaitan. All the Khaitan bashers should take a pause and think. When Khaitan started 10 odd years back in Mumbai, it didn't even have the branding that brothers have....still it has dented market share, given a platform for so many professionals and continue to do good work.

Really beginning to wonder about the future of CAM Delhi... Seems like a disparate bunch of opportunists who will be scrambling to find their respective place under the CAM sun (and by opportunists I dont mean anything negative, its obvious that people who have jumped ship have done so because they see a disruptive growth opportunity for themselves).

Wonder how they'll gel into a team and pull together... I reckon we are going to continue seeing a lot of people move related stories with a CAM connection over the next 18 months... People will drop off, CAM will need to plug the deficiencies, etc.

On a separate note, it is quite telling that not a single senior really heavy hitting corporate partner has jumped from the Big Six over to CAM boat.

I wonder from the comments here that these trolls (who are mostly of associate level) think they have better acumen than CAM who has seen the market and has experience in judging the people of years more than these trolls have seen till date..!! It seems they just got a big mouth to speak anything about anybody ..!!! MP is an excellent lawyer who has well established clientele, CAM is not that naive to bring somebody on boat without carrying out the due diligence ..!!

Abbe Yaar,

SILF should have just conducted a lawyer auction and asked the Big Six to bid for them. LI could have live blogged it.

On the other hand, can LI organise a fantasy team contest, where we can pick lawyers in our teams and depending on deals they do, get scored and give the winners one-year manupatra subscription.

Sigh! *gets back to work with a game face*

What does "many headed" in the headlines mean? I was thinking of Indian mythology - but surely it cannot be that.

Somewhat intentional weak pun - in this context it refers to his many department head functions at Kochhar, so he therefore is a man with many head job titles... :)

It will be interesting to know how many of CAMs hires are being hired as equity partners. It appears that they will all fall under the category of salaried partners (with varied compensation).

Kian Ganz hates Kochhar & Co and refuses to publish anything positive about Kochhar & Co concerning this. The fact is, Manishi mostly does regulatory and employment [...] Not a big loss. Kian, I dare you to publish this, since I am writing it for the third time!

If you expressed yourself a little better, your comments would have been published. When we need to start editing parts of comments, often it doesn't go up at all or it can take a long time.

Kian, can you explain why Manishi's name was removed from Kochhar & Co. web site just a day after this report was published but that of Harry Chawla continues to appear?
