Khaitan & Co will take a lawyer from UK international firm Eversheds on a three-month secondment in September, reported The Lawyer.
Year four qualified Eversheds associate Sandip Khroud will join in Khaitan's Mumbai and New Delhi offices.
Khaitan was present at a UK India client event hosted by Eversheds last week (13 July).
But both firms told The Lawyer they were not looking to become formal best friends.
Khaitan senior partner Ravi Kulkani said: "This is designed to promote better understanding between us and Eversheds in terms of working practices, clients and such like. But the relationship between ourselves and Eversheds will remain non-exclusive."
He added that Khaitan has referral relationships with “a number” of UK and US firms and has no plans to tie up with just one international firm.
