IndusLaw has hired Ray Vikram Nath – a registered foreign attorney in Japan – to build its Japan practice. Nath joins Indus Delhi as a senior associate.
The Symbiosis 2003 alumni Nath was a foreign attorney with Japanese law firm TMI Associates since June 2013.
Before TMI he had stints with Chitale & Chitale, the Chambers of Brijesh Kalappa, Kochhar & Co and Dua Associates.
At TMI Tokyo Nath advised Japanese companies on Indian law, did M&A, joint ventures and structuring and worked on cross border private equity matters involving transactions in California, Korea, Mauritius and Israel, according to Indus’ press release.
Indus Delhi partner Gaurav Dani told Legally India that the firm was currently engaged by Japanese clients in the services and manufacturing sectors including IT hardware, and that Nath was the firm’s first hire focussed solely on the growth of this vertical.
“Vikram brings in deep knowledge of the Japanese market and culture and we hope to strengthen our Japanese practice with his expertize. We are very happy to have him on board,” commented Dani in the release.
Kochhar & Co, which had obtained a license to open an office in Japan in 2012 and opened its Japanese branch in Tokyo, is one of several major firms aggressively tapping the Japanese market for business.

Reason: SILF and its gang want to protect their vested interest!!!
Well done, SILF and Gang!
Surprising, how come large Indian companies and particularly blue-chip MNCs remain contend with the serious lack of options (international vs domestic) in choosing a legal services vendor??? In house legal counsel must be taken to task for not doing enough..
