FoxMandal Delhi break-away SRGR parts with co-founder over strategy

SRGR Law Offices, which was formed in November 2009 by four former FoxMandal Delhi partners, is now operating in a new office after separating from co-founding litigation partner Gaurav Bhatia (pictured right) after strategic differences on the future direction of the firm.

Co-founding SRGR partners Rajan Gupta, Saroj Jha and Ravi Bishnoi (pictured r. to l.) have separated from Bhatia and taken a separate 3,000 square foot office in Noida's sector 4 under the SRGR brand, with the rights to use the name having been amicably settled between the founding partners.

It is understood that the partnership split was partly caused by disagreements over the strategic direction the firm would take, but the partners have now also amicably agreed that Bhatia would pursue his independent legal practice.

Bishnoi said: "For all practical purposes we have parted ways and we are operating from separate offices."

Bhatia continues to operate from his 1,400 square foot office in Bengali Market near Connaught Place, as well as taking on responsibilities to manage his family's Lucknow litigation firm of 10 advocates since his father Virendra Bhatia, who was also criminal advocate and Rajya Sabha member, passed away in late May.

Bhatia commented that his father had been unwell for some time, which required his full attention. ""My father has left me a great legacy and he was loved by the lawyers' fraternity. It will be a fitting tribute to him if I can devote more time to our Lucknow office and expand our base in the State of Uttar Pradesh also and work for the welfare of the lawyer fraternity."

SRGR's Noida office now consists of three partners – Bishnoi, Gupta and Jha specialising in infrastructure, corporate and real estate respectively - as well as 12 associates.

Bishnoi said that the partners were currently in talks to hire another senior litigation partner soon.

SRGR was founded in November 2009 by four former FoxMandal Delhi partners with the intention to grow into a top-10 Delhi firm with a full service offering.
