Finsec Law Advisors has taken on its first lateral partner, with ARA Law senior associate Indrajit Mishra coming on board to build the transactional private equity practice at the financial sector advisory boutique.
Mishra, who has joined as an associate partner, will focus on private equity, funds and M&A work at Finsec, which was started up by former Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) executive director Sandeep Parekh a little over one year ago as a lawyer’s lawyer.
Mishra said that his new role at Finsec offered growth perspectives and strong support: “It's a growing firm and I see opportunities here.”
Before joining Finsec he had been at ARA for four years, having started his career as a company secretary, joining Thakker & Thakker in 2005 and completing his law degree from Mumbai University’s New Law College in 2005.
Parekh said that Finsec remained a financial sector law firm with three planned verticals, now including specialist securities advisory work and transactional work. He noted that the third vertical, financial services litigation, would be created in future through lateral hires.
In June 2011 the firm moved to a larger 1100 square foot office in Mumbai’s Nariman Point area in the Raheja Centre, said Parekh, and now had four associates and senior associate Tejesh Chitlangi, who joined the firm in October 2010 from ARA.
ARA was unavailable for comment at the time of going to press.
