IL&FS finds new GC with SunEdison India head Vinay Bhatia

SunEdison India general counsel (GC) and director legal of six years, Vinay Bhatia, has joined the IL&FS Financial Services as its new general counsel based in Chennai.

The company is a non-banking finance company (NBFC) subsidiary of Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services (IL&FS), where Bhatia succeeds Damini Marwah in the role, who had joined Axis Bank in September.

The 2001 NLSIU Bangalore graduate had begun his career at ICICI Bank, followed by Franklin Templeton Investments from 2004 until 2008, where he left as assistant vice president legal.

Between 2008 and 2010, he spent to years at what was then Amarchand Mangaldas in Kolkata, before moving to SunEdison in Chennai.

At the US renewables major SunEdison he was responsible for overseeing projects, corporate and compliance work.
