Mass advocate protests reported in Chennai over today’s bar exam

On the day of the second All India Bar Exam (AIBE) today PTI reported at least 500 lawyers protested outside one of two exam halls in Chennai, where the first exam in March had to be cancelled due to unrest.

The 27 March retake of the first exam was also postponed because of local election to today, the date of the second exam due to take place throughout India.

According to PTI today:

The advocates agitated in front of the examination centres in Loyola College and Ethiraj College for Women and contended they had already qualified in all the papers while in their the LLB programme during graduation and as such it was not necessary for them to qualify in the AIBE conducted by the Bar Council of India… Chennai has two exam centres -- one in Loyola College and another in Ethiraj College for Women.

PTI did not report whether graduating students conducting the exam was hampered by the protests.
