are women really that weak, at least in this 21st century? in order to answer this key question properly we must know the definition of weakness. weakness is the inability to maintain himself/herself. this inability mainly refers to financial weakness because only money is required to maintain oneself. with money food, clothing and shelter come.if you don't have money you don't have food, clothing and shelter.
the first question is that are women financially weak? if we carefully observe our surroundings we would find many female corporate leader, doctor, lawyer, CA,CS, entreprenur etc. so we can say that wemen today are more financially secure than ever before.for example we have kiran mazumdar shaw, the head of biocon, naina lal kidwai, vice chairman of morgan stanly, sulajja motwani, joint MD of kinatic motors to name a few.
besides in income tax women has more exemption than men. this also ensures financial security of women.
secondly, according to hindu succession act, women can inherit their parental property. in parental property, both men and women have equal share. so women do have a shelter apart from husband's home.
thirdly, there are many NGOs that are taking care of homeless women. many ladies hostel are there where women can stay. no such facility is available to men.
beside there maybe a few women who are tortured or harrassed by their family but such women are very rare minority in india.
so come to our main question in discussion:are women really that weak, at least in this 21st century? we find the answer is NO. women are more secure than ever before. then next question comes in mind: why then marriage law ( amendment) bill 2010 is introduced to parliament which provides a clear 50% share of wife on the residential property of husbend even before marriage? have anybody thought ever how unequal this bill will be? it is totally biased against the husband. how? here we go.
from above discussion we saw that women had money, parental property, settlement facility provided by NGOs. after passing this bill, women will have one more property i.e husband's property. she will feel more secure i think. if she is not a psychopath.
on the other hand what husband has? in divorce he will loose money in the form of maintainance, his own property and he does not have any NGO settlement facility. HE WILL COME ON THE ROAD.
we can clearly see that how one party gains and another party loses things under divorce act of india. how equal divorce laws of india actually is.and media tries to show such kind of law as the most equal thing. is it a new form of yeallow journalism?
what do you think?
