Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has worked with J Sagar Associates (JSA) as counsel to energy major BP selling around Rs 460 crore ($95m) of Indian windfarms to private equity-backed Green Infra, which was advised by Luthra & Luthra.
Freshfields London partner and India practice head Pratap Amin led the team for BP, assisted by corporate senior associate Rupert Rowland-Clark.

JSA Gurgaon-based partner Sumanto Basu and senior associate Nitesh Bhasin led the Indian legal team for BP.

It is understood that BP selected JSA directly as its domestic adviser because of its existing close relationship with the firm.

Basu had joined JSA from Trilegal in the past year.

Luthra Delhi corporate partner Samir Dudhoria and group head Pranjal Bora advised Green Infra.

Green Infra is backed by IDFC Private Equity. Green Infra bought BP Energy India, which owns 100MW worth of energy generating assets in India.

The funding for the deal consisted of a mix of equity and debt, arranged by IDFC Bank and Axis Bank.
