For a very long time in my career, i used to draft every application, petition, etc afresh - starting from a new word document - i used to take great pride in it. After sometime I realised there is no greatness in reinventing the wheel everytime. It is simply inefficient and not error proof. Hence, now I use templates which i have created for myself. Having said that, i draft the facts, grounds and prayers afresh every time.
Many lawyers just edit. Which is a terrible practice, and I have seen things go bad in court due to this (they forgot to change the name of the Applicant at one place, or the case number, or whatever).

It's always a good idea to start from scratch. And it's not that difficult once you do it a few times.
