Does NUALS have any kind of dress code? I might join this year and I want to pack accordingly
NUALS does have a dress code for class-related activities, which consists of black pants and a white full-sleeve shirt. It is also required to wear black shoes to maintain a formal appearance. However, for conferences, seminars, and other events, you have the flexibility to wear different types of formals. Initially, first-year students are usually expected to adhere to the full uniform, but as time passes, you can adopt a slightly less formal attire, such as a white kurta/kurti or a white polo t-shirt, as long as it aligns with the color scheme of white shirts and blackish pants. It's important to note that there is no dress code outside of class, so you can freely wear whatever you prefer.

Wearing a uniform at NUALS may initially seem like an inconvenience, but it serves several purposes that can actually be beneficial. Firstly, it eliminates the daily struggle of deciding what to wear, allowing you to focus more on your studies and other activities. Additionally, the uniform contributes to fostering an atmosphere of professionalism and equality within the classes and campus during working hours. Keep aside a good expensive white shirt and black trousers for important events. Don't mix up your daily uniform with that pair.

Moreover, it's important to consider that as a lawyer, you will likely be required to wear professional attire in your future career. So, think of the uniform as an opportunity to practice and familiarize yourself with the dress code expected of legal professionals. It prepares you for the expectations and standards that will be placed upon you as you enter the legal field.

While it may seem like a small aspect, embracing the uniform can help instill a sense of discipline and commitment to your studies and future profession. Ultimately, it's a small sacrifice that contributes to the overall educational environment and prepares you for your future as a legal professional.

Please disregard the mention of a black blazer in the uniform section. You can wear it on your first day of class and reserve it for special occasions like functions and moots. Although there is air conditioning in the classrooms, it's worth mentioning that wearing a blazer in the heat is not a common practice among students. Hope this helps. :)
No dress code or uniform for LLM or PhD. You can wear anything you're comfortable with.
NUALS has a strict dress code. It's like School Uniforms - full day of classes you have to be in white and black dress. Feels like School. Outside classes you can wear what you want. But it's kerala it's a Judgemental place even thou outside it looks the most Liberal place. Infact I feel other NLU's are more Liberal.

Even Tier 3 NLU's and Private Colleges doesn't have such a stupid system. It's boring, dull and uncomfortable.
Expecting decency in public is not "judgemental". Would you call the people bashing that girl on the delhi metro wrong? You can wear anything in private, but in the public, you do not have everyones consent to dress as you prefer, it makes people uncomfortable.
