I just can't understand what the hell is wrong with the Modi government and their ▮▮▮ supporters.

Re Saket, Rana and Teesta: You are attacking these activists for using crowdsourced donations to meet personal expenses, while the ED/CBI are charge sheeting them. But isn't that the WHOLE POINT of seeking crowdsourced donations? One cannot spent money only on filing RTIs and PILs! One needs to buy food, medicines, clothes, etc. They have no alternate source of income and the reason they are into working in companies is that they have sacrificed a corporate for activism. Also, it is important for activists to travel to spread their message. If you are invited by Harvard you cannot go there by bus!!

So how the hell has any law been broken????
if while asking for crowd sourced donations, they asked it for living expenses too then yes it's fine otherwise it's messed up. It's like students requesting funds on gofundme for sstudying abroad but instead using the funds for vacation and not studying/doing a degree.
No, it's not the same. How does that analogy even work?

The analogy would be students taking funds for studying abroad, and besides spending on tuition fee, also spending on accommodation, food, etc.
Do you know the purpose for which the money was collected? If the declared purpose was "A" (say challenge to some legislation), but, money used for "B" (personal expenses), that would be cheating u/s.420 which is a scheduled offence u/PMLA. Tough to speculate what the exact reason is at this stage without having a copy of the FIR. Media reports are usually unreliable.
Read what diversion of funds means-

Board of India (Prohibition of Fraudulent and Unfair Trade Practices relating to Securities Market) Regulations, 2003
Seeing your views, it's abundantly clear that you donated too. ▮▮▮
The big issue is mixing. What is a Activism expense and what is a Personal Expense? Ideally you should run your activism as a Non-Profit and pay yourself a Salary for your personal expenses. Then crowd funding etc can work. But otherwise you're mixing money and that's always going to give cause for a prosecution under 420 IPC or for Criminal Breach of Trust under Section 406 IPC.

These guys are downright stupid.

The biggest problem with activism in India is what you have said. They don't have a day job. That's why they are so clued out about the rest of society.

I sometimes think they break laws deliberately just so that they can use the Courts to make their stump speeches.
