Is it proper for a law firm to continue to claim in its collateral that the associate is still part of the firm?

Do law firms immediately inform its clients about the moving out of the associate?

If its a lowly associate, clients won't care as long as the device the work gets done from is manned. If its a senior then I doubt its possible keep things undisclosed.
