It seems more like condoling to me as he just stated it without suggesting an alternative course of action or something like that. Seems fair though, who would go to an institution with such hefty fees if he/she is able to crack top 5 in CLAT.

Although one cannot deny that CLAT is an exam curated in such a manner that inherently supports candidates from privileged backgrounds, but he twisted it because the audience is already the top 0.01%.
This man's pronouncements and virtue-signalling are getting annoying. Why isn't he commenting on the need for an Indian Judicial Service and liberalisation of the legals sectors to give opportunities to young law grads?
Justice Chandrachud may be requested to set the question papers for CLAT 2024.
Chandrachud & Family are the worst examples of what went wrong in the Indian Judiciary. They must be the last people to talk about privilege.

DY Chandrachud became CJI and Judge because of YV Chandrachud. His kids Abhinav Chandrachud and Chintan Chandrachud are also lined up in the Bombay High Court to be judges in the next possible opportunity.

DYC can indeed make Judiciary less privileged by elevating Subordinate Judiciary judges instead of elevating well connected nepo Guy's from the bar.
Sorry to say, but he is becoming the Justin Trudeau of the the Indian legal world (though he and his fans would probably see that as a compliment).
Most chief justices have said this, but themselves are products and have taken advantage of "family-help-not-deserving" charms.

But DYC saying this is crossing the line, he is a walking nepotism king, the government must immediately implement the NJAC
He might have benefited from nepotism, but why single him out? Dozens of CJIs have had judges in the family, what's so special about DYC that NJAC needs to be forced through now? Does he lack the qualification? Has he behaved in a manner not befitting the institution?
"You have benefitted from nepotism, and now therefore any argument you make is invalid."

Judiciary is worse than film industry as far as nepotism is concerned.
