Delhi/Madras - Arvind Datar or N Venkatraman. NV is ASG right now so not sure how internship works with him. Datar does some constitutional matters and some other work beyond tax also. NV - largely indirect tax and some DT, with few other matters.
In Mumbai - Rohan Shah. Not a designated senior but does tax matters mainly. Would've been a senior long back, had he continued to be an arguing counsel instead of focusing on managing ELP.
I'm a tax professional with more than 20 years of experience working in major firms, not a law student. If you've good names to add, add it here instead of making such blanket comments. Datar's name is there because he's one of the best, who does lot of tax. Does Salve or Rohatgi do tax, yes of course. But a miniscule part of their practice is tax. OP wants tax focused lawyer, which others aren't. In SC, you still have guys like S Ganesh but he doesn't do much tax. Zohaib hasn't done much IDT. Same as the others in Mumbai bar like Percy etc. Bharat R in Bombay is still upcoming guy. Tarun Gulati in Delhi is still more of HC guy. Similarly, can give comments for many. But these are guys to look for.
Pulak Raj Mullick is a CA, CS, LL.B from Uttarakhand. He was a CA primarily doing Tax litigation, turned Advoxte, at Uttarakhand High Court. I have seen many Tax Advocates including the so called big names, but Iām yet to see the precision in arguments and drafting, this man has!

Indirect Tax - Rohan Shah, V. Sridharan (L&S), Bharat Raichandani (UBR Legal).
