NLUJ does not have a backlog system. If one fails a subject, they get one more attempt at the end term examination to bring their overall grade above the passing marks. Such repeat exam happen 1.5-2 months after the end terms and if you fail to bring your overall grade above the passing marks, you repeat the entire year. This leads to significant attrition in the first 3 years of law school.

About 20 people who joined my batch fell out in this way. Many atimes such people who have repeated a year self select out of the process. Then there are some unique individual cases. One of our batch toppers didn't sit for placements because they wanted an IPR role and those weren't on offer by the Firms visiting on Day Zero. Some people with low batch ranks also self select themselves out of the process - unfairly to themselves but that's their call.

All in all, it does work out to about 60-70 people seeking T1 and similar jobs.
There are many more avenues in life other than upsc, judiciary, litigation, some people would like to open a business, some continue their family business, like restaurants, shops, and people make serious dough in some lines of business.
