Hi. I'm a law student with multiple chronic health conditions which make it difficult for me to work for long hours continuously. I've been in and out of hospitals since 2019 and things don't seem to be getting better. My migraine and other conditions have also affected my studies and at this point, I'm on the verge of a massive breakdown because I don't know how I'll ever be able to get a well-paying job at a good law firm. I'll graduate in 2024 and I seem to be running out of time.

Please give me some suggestions as to what domain should I pursue that will not drain the life out of me (like top-tier firms allegedly do) and give me a decent amount of money. I'm interested in pursuing a career in ADR, so anything revolving around that would be preferable.

Thank you :)
As someone who's battled cancer in school days and doing well in law school now (I hope), here's me giving you some encouragement. Things will be fine. You'll do well. God bless!
Try a field which is less time sensitive, perhaps real estate. Read everything you can on your subject and specialise. ADR is also an option, of course. Most importantly, try to heal your migraine (identify triggers and how to avoid them / taking timely medicine), deal with the breakdown (go for therapy) and of course your other health issues. Mostly, always remember, your health, mental and physical, always comes first! All the best!
1. Sort out your health.
2. Sort out your life.

Have clarity and accept the fact that the best paid job is not going to be the ticket to happiness. You have to use your time now to get equilibrium.
Not everyone has to be a corporate lawyer.
If you want to, you have to get your health in order.
If you don't you are just being masochistic and setting yourself up for failure.
Yup, I chose to prioritize my health over money for a few years when things got out of hand. Best decision of my life. Remember health>>> career. If you're not doing well physically and mentally, you will consequently struggle professionally. Take a job which may pay a little less but which would leave you with time for your health and make you less stressed. And then gradually as you get better, work your way up.
Hope this helps. Good luck!
A wise person has said, "Treasures of the body are more important than treasures of the storehouse".
Focus on your health first. Get absolutely fine. Don't over stress your body for aT1 career. I wish I could meet you in person and tell my story. I started my law career at 28. Worked for smaller firms for good 3-4 years and then shifted to a T1. I may appear to be a bit 'behind' the peers but that is completely ok.
