Why would anyone want to sleep with someone in order to get/stay in a godforsaken job?
Casting couch is quite common in law schools and colleges. And yes, NLUs included.
It happens everywhere, not just law firms. Girls may be vulnerable and desperate because of different kinds of financial pressure: high rents in Mumbai support to retired parents, educational loans etc. There are always men out there looking to prey on the vulnerable. Sadly, some may even be forced into loveless marriages. In a patriarchal and minsogynst society like India, being beautiful can be a curse if you are not wealthy and not financially secure.
bro why would anyone in their right senses do that to suffer in these shops
The New York-based Centre for Work-Life Policy has found that 37 per cent office workers said that from their experience those who slept with their superiors were rewarded with a career boost. What's more, no matter how high achieving the woman is, she will not reach the very top of her profession unless she finds a 'sponsor'-read a sugar daddy who is almost always married.

No wonder CAM has the worst attrition of the industry.......Taken this link from another LI conversation - http://www.geocities.ws/kream77/amarchand.html.......if we were in the US,the Amarchand firm and Cyril would have gotten sued very very badly for creating a romantically/sexually charged atmosphere at the workplace and manipulating people into relationships to serve his economic interests by "creating committments".This mantra no 2 in the article is a bit of shocker on how far the exploitation can go to at hands of a Tier1 owner.

Mantra 2 – Create commitments – Cyril’s favourite associates are all married to one another – Ashwath & Nimisha, Rahul & Runa…They may love one another but an invisible hand did push them together! Cyril’s economic largesse ensures loans to Amarchand associates to chain them to him till they are economically capable of repaying him. A loyalty bonus is payable for those who have spent 8 years in the organization. To alleviate the cost of living in Mumbai, Cyril re-imburses each Amarchand associate a fraction of the actual cost. To live in a 1BHK house in a decent part of Mumbai with a car costs a minimum of Rs. 25,000 a month. Otherwise, settle for a PG and suffer!
